Custom Cars

We know what your car means to you, which is why we put our heart and soul into every project we take on. From initial design to finished masterpiece, we move through every step of our process with painstaking precision and meticulous attention to detail.

Our Process

What Makes Us Different

Perfectionism and diligent attention to detail. That’s what always follows the Sage Hendricks name and now Rad Rides Garage.  This is what allows RRG to remain in business and have sensational one of a kind rides.  Our customers are treated with the same respect and enthusiasm no matter the scale of the job or the budget. (Click the Headlines below to see our full process.)

The
Vision

It all starts with brainstorming with our customers. We love meeting new rides, and customers, either in the field, their own garage, or in our shop.

Pulling those visions and dreams from our customer’s heart that has usually been building for years and creating a unique build for them is a labor of love that RRG is proud to be a part of and to bring to fruition.

The
Design

During the design stage, Sage will take the dreams of the customer and mesh it with their budget. From there, we begin the steps to take the project from concept to reality.

The
Fabrication

This is where the gritty ground work begins. We sand blast, repair, replace, powder coat-whatever’s needed to get the framework ready.

We’ll stretch, chop, widen, or even change everything until it’s perfect.

The
Body

Grinding. Polishing. Perfecting. We spend hours making sure each vehicle is flawless, from the engine bay to the bumpers, bringing whatever your dream may be to life.

From there, we’ll give it the finishing touches with a stunning custom paint job of your choosing.

The
Engine

Now it’s time to reassemble the chassis with the hardware, transmission, exhaust, and engine. We take meticulous effort to make sure wiring is hidden, stereo systems are booming, exhausts are custom and engines are purring.

Tuning the original engine or doing a LS swap, RRG has the ability to provide the customer the classic ride or the new age horsepower they are looking for.

The
Interior

RRG works with and schedules with an interior designer to craft hand-built door panels, center consoles, dashboards and more for our cars.

The
Finale

Once we finish a vehicle, we will clean and polish all angles and prepare the beauty for a local photo shoot.

RRG provides the keys and custom picture to the client to begin their new love story.

About Us

Rad Rides Garage is owned and operated by Sage Hendricks. Sage has over 30 years’ experience in auto body collision and customization. He is ASE Certified and is a PPG Certified Master Technician. Sage is well known not only for his auto body work, but also for his customized paint jobs and meticulous detail to custom work.

How We Got Started

Sage started in the industry when he was a teenager. After schooling and training and nearly 20 years in the business he and his family moved to Mooresville, NC where he worked in NASCAR for DEI where he did the paint, decals and body work on their collective race cars. He was also part of the NAPA Michael Waltrip pit crew and was able to travel with the team and be a part of victory lane.

Upon moving back to his roots in Wyoming in 2010, Sage started working on his next dream of owning his own custom and collision shop. In 2013 Rad Rides Garage was able to open its doors for business.  Two short years later, RRG purchased property and moved to their new shop on the north end of Buffalo, Wyoming. Within two more years, RRG outgrew their facility and built an additional 2600 sq/ft building and new office space.

Our Team

Sage Hendricks

Owner – President – Jack of All Trades

From ranch roots in Montana to dirt track car racing to victory lane at the Daytona 500, Sage brings 30 years of experience to his work and pours himself into every job he does.

With a quiet perfectionism and an “always ready to lend a hand” attitude, you can rest assured, when you work with  Sage and Rad Rides Garage, both you and your car are in good hands.

More About Sage's History

Sage was born in Ekalaka, Montana where his family still ranches. His family spent several years in Wyoming starting when Sage was about 16 years old and Buffalo, Wyoming soon became home.

Sage started work as shop laborer at a local auto body shop when he was 18 years old. The owner allowed Sage to grow and learn every part of the business over the next 15 years. During this time, Sage met and married his wife Tammy, the two have a son and a daughter and Sage started dabbling in his other passion of racing cars.

In 1994, Sage built and started racing his 1st dirt track race car, a WYSSOTA MOD-4.  He worked with his cousin, Dan Speelmon from Williston, ND.

Sage spent the next year getting the class brought to local race tracks and he and his brother Kody spent the winter building about a dozen MOD-4’s so that they could keep the class growing.  Sage and his brother both placed nationally and even had their mother racing a car!

Sage always watched NASCAR and after attending a race in Las Vegas, he mailed off his resume to the corporation in hopes of working for one of the teams.

In March of 2002 his dreams came true when a Busch team, Ed Whitaker Racing, invited him to join their team as paint and body man, semitruck team car driver and overflow gas man on the pit crew.

Sage moved to Bristol, Tennessee while his wife and children stayed in Wyoming to finalize the sale of their video rental store, that is a whole other story, and the sale of their house and 6 months later they were reunited in Mooresville, NC after he was offered a job with DEI, Dale Earnhardt Incorporated.

Sage and his family made their home in Mooresville, North Carolina for the next 8 years. While employed with DEI, Sage was a body man during the week and on the pit crew of Michael Waltrip on the weekends.

He was able to go to every NASCAR race track, be in victory lane at the Daytona 500, victory lane at Talladega and was part of Martin Truex Jr’s team when he won the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in 2004 and 2005.  Sage was able to mark so many things off his bucket list thanks to being apart of the DEI NASCAR team.

While in North Carolina Sage also had the opportunity to redesign the original prototype into what it is today of the Children’s Dream Racer for Mark “Smitty” Smith.

Children’s Dream Racer (CDR) is a non-profit organization that places Dream Racers in Children’s Hospitals and Cancer Care Centers worldwide to help children get through any difficult treatment that they must endure.

A Dream Racer is a child-sized version of a real NASCAR race car. Currently built by retired NASCAR car builder and founder of CDR, Mark “Smitty” Smith, these cars are made with the same materials used to make real NASCAR race cars.

All Dream Racers include a flat panel TV, CD/DVD player, Play Station®, IV stand, oxygen bottle holder, easy roll coasters with brake and a storage trunk.  Sage’s children were of the perfect size to use as models for better specs and their input was invaluable with how things felt, responded and most importantly, how similar it was to a real race car and the feeling you got being in it.

After being laid off from DEI during the recession of 2008, it gave Sage an opportunity to design and fabricate a custom core support assembly, rear shock mounts and top bars for the tri-5 Chevy.  He also started doing custom paint jobs and body work out of his home shop.

Sage stumbled upon a water transfer printing system that he purchased, practiced and produced some amazing products as well. Sage is always looking and trying new creative outlets to learn new techniques that he carries over into his long-time passion, auto custom and design.

In 2010 the Hendricks family returned home to their roots in Buffalo, Wyoming. Within a couple of years, they were able to finally purchase property and open their own doors for a custom and collision auto body and repair shop, Rad Rides Garage.

Now with over 30 years’ experience, Sage and his family are enjoying being back in Wyoming, creating custom cars with clients and helping the community if they ever experience car troubles.

Tammy Hendricks - Office Manager

Tammy was born and raised in Buffalo, Wyoming.  Sage and Tammy married in 1997 and made their home in Buffalo with their two children.

Tammy has been the glue that holds Sage’s adventures together and balanced over the last 25+ years.  Besides mainly being at home with the children, Tammy has always done bookwork / HR either from home, for Sage’s businesses or for family friendly companies.  Once returning to Wyoming after 8 years in North Carolina, Tammy worked as the staff accountant at a local bank for several years.

When personal health and happiness became a concern, the opportunity arose for Tammy to be able to work from home and be more available to work in the Rad Rides office.

Sage, Tammy and Cash couldn’t be happier about the new work arrangements!  Tammy says they are the best co-workers ever.

JOHNNY “CASH” HENDRICKS - PUPLIC RELATIONS / ENTRANCE ALARM

Cash was born in Spearfish, South Dakota in 2016 and has settled nicely into Buffalo, Wyoming, becoming a part of the welcoming committee of Rad Rides Garage ever since.

Cash specializes in bunny chasing, naps, and the art of disappearing into the collection of north 40 cars where only his cry can be heard. When asked what his favorite part of working at Rad Rides Garage is, he tips his head which translates to naps, bunnies and most importantly, treats.

Cash loves to be with his family at the shop and at home. We are all happy to have Cash as part of the team.

Having him here ensures no one has a ruff day.

True Stories

“Rad Rides is amazing!! I have used them for several years, for everything from hail damage and body work to engine repair. Sage gets the job done quickly, does an excellent job and works with my insurance company. He’s also always there to answer any questions that I have. I give Rad Rides a 10 Start rating on a 5 Star scale.”

T. Skovgard

“Sage, the owner is AMAZING!!! I got into a bind with my RV, and even though he doesn’t normally work on RVs, and he went above and beyond to find a solution and did such a good job I’m confident it will be the last time it needs to be repaired. I can highly recommend..”
